Schwalm Fairy
Schwalm embroidery originates in Germany in a region along the Schwalm River. It is characterised by a coral knot stitch and chain stitch outline.  The shapes are then filled in using pulled and/or drawn thread work stitches. The fairy is worked on pure evenweave white linen measuring approximately 12" x 12". It is worked in a 10" embroidery hoop (not included).
As an alternative to the workshop, a kit with online tutorial is available to purchase now - click here

A packed lunch
10" embroidery hoop, both rings of which should be bound with white cotton tape or bias binding. A seat frame is recommended.
If you wear glasses or require a magnifier for close work, it is particularly important to bring them with you.

(everything else is provided, including needles & embroidery scissors. However you are welcome to bring your own sewing kit if you prefer - please note that you will need good quality sharp embroidery scissors to be able to continue with this work at home after the workshop).

About the Workshop
The workshop is limited to 12 persons, who may be working on different projects.
The kit will be sent to you in advance so that you can transfer the design onto your linen before the workshop.   After stitching the coral knot and chain stitch outline stitches, you will learn to work satin block filling and wing filling stitches. A link to the video tutorial will be e-mailed to you after the workshop in order for you to be able to complete the embroidery at home or return to attend another workshop at a reduced price.
