For those who wish to learn a more intricate temari design, the chrysanthemum is very traditionally Japanese. In this design the ball is subdivided so that 6 chrysanthemums can be worked in each of the sections around the ball. One chrysanthemum is worked on top of another in each section. A degree of manual dexterity is needed to wind wool & thread around the ball. However, you should already be familiar with how to wrap a temari ball at this level and should ideally already have worked several balls previously. The tutorial does not cover how to wrap a ball. The video tutorial takes you through each step of the process to produce one embroidered ball in the design shown.
Available in different colours- click on the photos to view colourway names - when purchasing please add in the notes/comments box on the payment screen at paypal which colourway you require. Please also state a 2nd choice if you have one. Base cotton colours provided will match.
Together with an online YouTube tutorial, the kit includes 3 different cotton perle skeins of thread, 1000 yard reel of polyester cotton, long darning needle, metallic silver or gold thread, one 60mm polystyrene ball, 40 pearl-headed assorted coloured pins, paper tape, wool, colour photograph and full instructions.
Please note that this design also works well on larger balls, and the video demonstration is done using a larger ball to make the design easier to see.
To complete the project you will need both paper and embroidery scissors and and some old tights. Postage and packing for destinations within the UK is included in the price. Please contact me for a price if you are outside the UK. If you are buying as a gift, the kit and tutorial can be sent direct to the recipient at a time of your choice if details are supplied in the notes/comments box when completing your purchase.
