Dragonflies by Twilight (Stumpwork) The stumpwork dragonflies have been designed by Cathy using organza, pure silk & metallic threads with beads to decorate. The work is embroidered on pure silk dupion fabric. The wired wings are worked individually before being attached to create the finished embroidery. The photograph shows the embroidery in a 6" embroidery hoop (and see image below).
Suitability - Intermediate It is not necessary to have done stumpwork previously, but some stitching experience is required. You should already be familiar and confident with split back stitch and stem stitch. Refreshments Tea & coffee is provided throughout the day, with home baking. Please bring your own packed lunch.
What you need to bring All materials and equipment will be provided. but you may wish to bring your own 4" and 6" embroidery hoops if you have them. A seat frame is best for the 6" hoop, but not essential. Alternatively, you may borrow standard hoops for the day. Standard hoops and seat frames are normally also available to purchase.

About the Workshop The skeleton design will be pre-printed onto the silk dupion for you. You will begin by embroidering the lower wings directly onto the silk dupion before working the body and wired wings using stumpwork techniques.
