Dragonflies by Twilight (Stumpwork) The stumpwork dragonflies have been designed by Cathy using organza, pure silk & metallic threads with beads to decorate. The work is embroidered on pure silk dupion fabric. The wired wings are worked individually before being attached to create the finished embroidery. The photograph shows the embroidery in a 6" embroidery hoop.
Suitability - Intermediate It is not necessary to have done stumpwork previously, but some stitching experience is required. You should already be familiar with split back stitch and stem stitch. Refreshments Tea & coffee is provided throughout the day, with home baking. Please bring your own packed lunch.
What you need to bring All materials and equipment will be provided. but you may wish to bring your own 6" embroidery hoop if you have one. A seat frame is best, but not essential. Alternatively, you may borrow a standard hoop for the day. Standard and seat frames are normally also available to purchase.
Cost £49 per person including all materials.
About the Workshop The skeleton design will be pre-printed onto the silk dupion for you. You will begin by embroidering the lower wings directly onto the silk dupion before working the body and wired wings using stumpwork techniques.
