Crewelwork Chrysanthemums Worked on pure linen twill with Appleton crewel wools, this design by Cathy is a contemporary take on Chrysanthemums, using thread painting techniques. The embroidery itself measures c. 8" x 8" and is worked and shown in a 10" embroidery hoop. The embroidery is worked on a piece of linen twill measuring c. 15" x 15".
Suitability - Beginners Suitable for anyone who has done a little stitching but a beginner to crewelwork. As a guide, as long as you can use a needle and thread with basics like hemming, sewing on buttons & back stitch, then this could be for you! It is also suitable for those who simply love Crewelwork and want to develop their 'thread painting' skills.

Refreshments Tea & coffee is provided throughout the day, with home-made biscuits mid-morning and cake mid-afternoon.
What you need to bring packed lunch 10" embroidery hoop, both rings of which should be bound with white cotton tape or bias binding. A seat frame is recommended. (Everything else is provided, including needles & embroidery scissors. However you are welcome to bring your own sewing kit if you prefer).
Cost £59 per person including all materials and access to a YouTube tutorial after the workshop.
About the Workshop The design will be pre-traced onto your linen twill. On the workshop, we will concentrate on perfecting your thread painting techniques (shading using long and short stitch). You will also learn French knots and stem stitch. Full guidance and instructions as to how to complete the project at home will be provided, as well as a link to a step-by-step YouTube tutorial.
