Developed in the town of Mountmellick in Ireland in the 19th century, this type of whitework is characterised by plants and flora and is typically worked on cotton sateen fabric with matt white cotton of differing thicknesses. This particular design by Cathy measures approximately 7.5" x 5" and is of a climbing hydrangea, using typical stitches such as padded satin, coral knot and Mountmellick stitch. Suitable for those with experience of stitching. As a guide, it is helpful if you are already familiar with stem stitch, French knots and Coral Knot Stitch. You don't need to have any experience of Mountmellick embroidery.
Together with unlimited personal access to a detailed YouTube video tutorial the kit includes cotton sateen fabric, Mountmellick cotton embroidery threads, crewel & chenille needles, colour photograph, full instructions and stitch key.
To complete the project you will need an 8" embroidery hoop and embroidery scissors.
Royal Mail tracked 48 delivery for destinations within the UK is included in the price. Please contact me for a price if you are outside the UK.
