Created for embroidery by Cathy from a beautiful original design by local contemporary folk artist, Sue Prince, the Gritstone sheep is worked in a striking range of Appleton's 2-ply crewel wools on pure linen twill fabric, measuring 20" x 16". The design measures 11" x 8". Stitches include bullion & French knots, Turkey rug stitch, raised fishbone stitch, raised stem band, fly stitch and stem stitch.

£5 from the sale of each workshop place will be donated to Alzheimer's Research UK (please see below for more details).

Suitability - Intermediate.
Prior experience of embroidery is required. As a guide you should be able to work stem stitch and French knots without instruction. You do not need to have experience of Crewelwork. 

Dates
You may attend any 2025 workshop to begin this project.

Cost*
£105 per person including all materials and access to a YouTube tutorial after the workshop (special offer price - only for 2025)
Currently £35 for any subsequent workshop to work the same project (with tutoring but no materials provided).

Refreshments
Tea & coffee is provided throughout the day, with home-made biscuits mid-morning and cake mid-afternoon.

What you need to bring
A packed lunch.
A suitable embroidery frame for the project - the fabric can be sent to you in advance in order for you to prepare your frame.

(Everything else is provided, including needles & embroidery scissors. However you are welcome to bring your own sewing kit if you prefer)

About the Workshop
The workshop is limited to 12 persons, who may be working on different projects. *The design will be pre-printed onto your linen twill.  You will part-complete your embroidery and learn some of the stitches that make up the design. A link to the video tutorial will be e-mailed to you after the workshop in order for you to be able to complete the embroidery at home or return to attend another workshop at a reduced price.

Charity Donation
*Sue Prince has kindly agreed to waive any fee for the use of her design for needlework and as a result, we have jointly decided that £5 from the sale of each workshop place will be donated to Alzheimer's Research UK, whose purpose is to find a cure for the diseases that cause dementia.
